Two former students from the well-acknowledged London School of Economics were the ones who created this company which they call Renew. The project involves the installation of one hundred bombproof recycling bins in the London financial district before the opening of the quadrennial games in July.

Before, London City authorities have been very reluctant to place recycling bins in places like Underground stations and other busy places because of the threats expressed by terrorist groups specifically the Irish Republican Army. A situation like this happened before in 1996 during the Atlanta Olympics when a bomb was placed in a trash container in Athlete’s Park which resulted to the deaths of many individuals. On July 7, 2005, a bomb was placed in a bin near the entrance of the Underground Station Aldgate in East London, resulting to the death of fifty two people.
