MOUNTAIN BIKE DESIGNS
Mountain bikes have different designs for different types of terrains and riding styles. As the terrain changes, it’s important to use the correct type of bike. The different mountain bike designs enable you to choose the appropriate type to match your riding style.
No matter what type of riding you prefer, there are specific bike designs for your discipline.
Classification for mountain bikes are based on the suspension types:
- Hard tail
- Fully rigid
- Full suspension (dual suspension)
- Soft tail
HARD TAIL – As the name suggests, the tail is hard with no suspension. Incorporating a front suspension fork.
FULLY RIGID – This type of bike is a hard tail, without the front suspension fork.
FULL SUSPENSION – Integrated into the frame of the bike are rear suspension and front suspension forks.
SOFT TAIL – The frame incorporates limited rear suspension. The range of the suspension is generally less than the dual suspension bikes.
Mountain biking is a unique sport offering all types of thrills and adrenaline rushes. It can be a lot of fun yet it can also be dangerous if you don’t have the right equipment.
For the beginners, the different design types of bikes can be confusing at first. So it’s important to understand that each bike design is built for particular types of riding. Check out as many bike designs and bike types before you commit to purchasing a mountain bike.
